From July 1, 2025, important changes will come into effect in Swiss regulations for electromobility, particularly for e-scooters and mobility scooters. These adjustments open up exciting new possibilities for users. Here are the details you should know:
E-scooters: More fun and flexibility!
- Speed limit : E-scooters without pedal assistance are now allowed to travel up to 25 km/h.
- Multi-seat capability : E-scooters designed to carry two people can now be used by two people without a driver's license. Ideal for shared rides in the city.
- Age limit : Young people aged 16 and over can use these e-scooters without a driver's license, and those aged 14 and over can ride them with a Category M license. This offers young people a practical mobility solution.
Mobility scooters: More power and comfort on steep terrain!
- Maximum speed : The speed of mobility scooters remains at 23 km/h.
- Increased performance : With an increase in maximum power to up to 2000 watts, these vehicles are now able to handle even steeper terrain. This opens up new avenues and opportunities for older people and those with limited mobility who wish to travel independently.
What does that mean for you?
These adjustments not only extend the speed and performance limits, but also allow e-scooters to be used with a companion, thus increasing the appeal of electric mobility. Furthermore, vehicles suitable for seniors can now navigate more challenging routes, offering greater independence in everyday life.
